Katie Carroll does not write music to please anyone. Katie writes music as it is like breathing to her, her constant companion and therapist in life. She is the truest version of an artist I have ever met – fragile, creative, always looking out the window, taking in new inspiration. This record was cut in many studios, most notably at Blue Rock Studios outside of Austin, TX: a gorgeous artist resort and magical place to make music. The album cover was actually a Katie Carroll original piece of art she completed while staying at Blue Rock in between takes. “Desperada” features many incredible musical performances and musicians on it, and many first takes. If you love Mazzy Star, Eva Cassidy, or even the Strokes: you’ll love “Desperada.”
